# GS1 Romania

> GS1 Romania (Asociația GS1 România) is the official, authorized GS1 member organisation in Romania and the only local issuer of GS1 identifiers: GTIN numbers behind EAN/UPC barcodes, GLN location numbers, company prefixes, SSCC and GS1 standards (barcodes, GS1 QR, GS1 DataMatrix, EPC/RFID, traceability, data exchange). Any company that manufactures, imports or sells products in Romanian retail, in pharmacies or on marketplaces such as eMAG or Amazon needs GTINs allocated by a GS1 member organisation; foreign companies selling into Romania can join GS1 Romania or use identifiers from their own national GS1 organisation.
